This week, the Australian government delivered the 2022-23 federal budget with an estimated 0.3% of expenditure pledged to climate change.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg mentioned ‘climate change’ once during his speech, despite recent flooding in South-East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Meanwhile, Anthony Albanese was not specific on how to take action on climate change, and focused on aged care.

Environmental advocates have been left disappointed as Australia veers further away from the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
