Donations have been pouring into Türkiye and Syria after the recent earthquake however government agencies have urged Australians to be careful when selecting a charity.
According to Australian Charities and Not-for-profits, Australians lose hundreds of thousands of dollars each year over charity scams.
They have advised donators to verify charities by checking the ACNC Charity Register and to continue to give generously to those in need.
