Afghanistan is heading into a third year of drought, with winter still not providing enough snow to break the big dry.  This will put pressure on farms and primary producers just as they try to recover from the bitter civil war.

Healthcare has deteriorated as supplies have run low and hospitals have reduced their services.  The Red Cross say that aid is getting through and donations will make a big difference to the quality of life for many Afghanis.
