The effectiveness of messages encouraging voluntary spending-limits adopted by online gambling platforms have been evaluated in a recent study out of the University of Sydney.

Over 26’000 participants contributed to the study, indicating younger males as a particular group of concern.

Less than one percent of prompts resulted in individually set controls. Further intervention from betting companies, the government and even banks may be required to address Australia’s growing issue with problem gambling.
