Australian mining company Cobalt Blue has promised to make the town of Broken Hill the fifth largest cobalt producer in the world, once its plant is fully operational.

Presently, most of the world’s cobalt is produced in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, sometimes with poor worker conditions.

While new cobalt projects will be entering a strong global market, new non-cobalt technologies could stand in the way of their success.
