Millions of permanent residents and temporary visa holders have no voting rights in Australia, but they should be able to vote in federal elections because of their social membership of the Australian community as many of them call Australia home, having lived and worked in this country for years.

 

Australia needs to expand voting rights to become more inclusive and allow millions of non-citizens to vote.
