This week marks 30 years since the Royal Commission into Indigenous Deaths in Custody delivered 339 recommendations, covering areas as diverse as housing, education, health care, police procedures and custodial health and well being.
In the last 6 weeks 6 Indigenous people have died in custody, bringing the total number of deaths since the Royal Commission to 474.
Over the weekend demonstrations took place in major Australian cities and more events are planned for April 15th, the exact anniversary of the publication of the Commission’s recommendations.
