A few weeks ago, the Queensland Parliament passed reforms to its Youth Justice legislation.

These changes will use $98.4 million to fund GPS monitors, strike teams, and expanded surveillance. Advocacy groups across Queensland, however, are particularly concerned about the bill’s reversal of the presumption of bail for children. This follows a trend in the other northern states of Australia – WA and NT, cracking down on youth crime.
