A new survey from the Community Council for Australia has shown voters in marginal seats across Australia support their charities, and would like the next government to support them for the benefit of the sector and the communities.
More than 3,000 voters answered the survey, and 91 per cent of the respondents are involved in charities and not-for-profits.
The Community Council for Australia is also asking the Federal government to support a sector that employs more than 1.3 million Australians and turns over more than $160 billion a year, or around 8.5 per cent of Australia’s GDP.
