Government projections show Australia is on track to cut emissions by 40 percent before the end of the decade according to the first ever Annual Climate Change Statement.
Labor will fall short of their own 43 per cent emissions reduction target by 2030, but it’s an improvement on the 30 per cent reduction predicted under the last government.
Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen said Australia must act with urgency along with the rest of the world to avoid disastrous climate change.
