A Federal court case that has been described as David and Goliath, has resumed this week in an Adelaide court. The Barngarla, the traditional custodians of most of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, are opposing the Federal Government’s plans for a nuclear waste dump in Kimba.

The site was chosen by the Morrison Government, with the then Resources Minister Keith Pitt saying the government had “majority support” from local community.

But the Barngarla say they weren’t part of the consultation.

Vida Sumner from Nunga Wangga speaks with Barngarla Determination Aboriginal Corporation chairperson Jason Bilney and Barngarla Elder Linda Dare about their mammoth fight for justice, and the impacts this is having on the community.
