A new report by the National Tertiary Education Union shows repayment periods for some university degrees may extend up to 44 years.

The report called ‘Future of Graduate Debt’, suggests four year degrees could end up costing more than $100, 000  and take the average student more than four decades to pay off.

The study also highlights that the average university student owes around $25, 000 under Higher Education Loans Program. That’s up by nearly $10, 000 on the figure 10 years ago.

It has raised concerns about how accessible and affordable a university degree can be in Australia.
