The Australian Bureau of Statistics today released an Administrative Data Snapshot of Housing, providing a window into the number of dwellings and the number of people living in them across Australia. This is a new methodology of recording and releasing housing and population data alongside the census, offering a comparison to the census and estimated dwelling stock.
The Data Snapshot of Housing also provides valuable information on the diversity of housing in Australia, from free standing homes to houseboats. This data can be used to determine the spread of populations across dwellings and show trends towards certain kinds of structures as homes.
