The embattled immigration minister Andrew Giles, is being urged to reform laws that currently deny permanent residency to people living with disability.  All visa applicants must complete a health declaration or undergo a full medical examination conducted by a doctor.

Critics say this process operates on outdated definitions of disability which do not consider individual circumstances or future social, economic or cultural contributions and decisions are made on perceived cost.
