The Coalition has revealed its long anticipated plan to install seven nuclear power sites by 2035-2037. Leader of the Opposition, Peter Dutton, in a press conference today, responded to various criticisms and gave a justification for a nuclear stance. Dutton is responding to scientific bodies like the CSIRO, who state any nuclear plan would be costly, ineffective and too late in addressing our current cost of living crisis.
While Dutton outlined a plan, the cost of the program was not detailed.
Nuclear policy is contentious among Australians, with Treasurer Jim Chalmers claiming the plan is akin to ‘ideological and economic insanity.’
