A landmark First Nations-owned solar microgrid development has been launched in the remote Northern Territory town of Marlinja.

In a bid to improve cost efficiency and sustainability, the final installation of a five-year collaboration between the community and energy partners aims to tackle the community’s continued blackouts, switching unstable energy connections for greener, renewable solutions.

Community members and clean energy supporters say they hope to create a path forward for Indigenous-led renewable power projects in other remote communities.
