US Vice President Kamala Harris has passed the required number of delegates at the Democratic National Convention convention in Chicago to become their presidential candidate.
The Convention includes a number of set piece speeches by Democrat luminaries such as President Joe Biden who spoke yesterday, and Barack Obama who spoke today
This serves to maintain the momentum of the campaign and helps energise Democrat voters, an important element in the US where voting is voluntary.
