A recent report from Foodbank has found that 3.4 million Australians are living with food insecurity, of which 2 million are experiencing severe food insecurity.
Severe food insecurity refers to people who have to skip food or eat less than they usually would due to being unable to afford food. The cost of living crisis and the housing crisis are both considered significant factors to the large number of people suffering severe food insecurity.
Brianna Casey, CEO of Foodbank Australia, says more can be done to help people who are struggling to put food on the table.
