Environmental campaigners, Traditional Owners and health professionals have joined an open letter, urging energy infrastructure giant APA Group, to abandon plans to construct a pipeline in the Northern Territory’s, Beetaloo Basin.

The gas-rich region remains a point of contention in Australian fracking debates, with several companies developing pilot projects to explore the basin.

APA has agreed to build a pipeline that would connect pilot wells with its key pipeline up to Darwin, and the move has sparked a petition of 17000 signatures, with finance and advocacy organisation Market Forces leading the charge.
