Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has been under extreme pressure to step down particularly following the dramatic resignation of finance minister and deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland ahead of her appearance to announce the yearly economic statement prior to Christmas.
US President-elect Trump had been having a field day offering to make Canada the 51st state and generally belittling the Canadian Prime Minister.
But Trump’s intention to slap a 25% tariff on the highly integrated Canadian economy has rattled the whole country, which is struggling with a post covid economic crisis.
