On Thursday, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced a new energy policy, putting gas at the front and centre of it.

Marketed as a so-called ‘transition fuel,’ Dutton supports gas as a pragmatic solution to Australia’s current energy needs.

But experts warn this approach risks locking the country into decades of costly and polluting infrastructure.
