Pressure is mounting on the Minns Labor Government to fulfill their 2 yearlong promise to establish the Great Koala National Park as advocates take to the stairs of parliament house itself to have their voices heard.
Forests at Orara East, Pine Creek, Newry, Wild Cattle Creek and Mt Coramba – all part of the proposed park – have been subject to high levels of deforestation despite thorough evidence of their conservational value and importance to endangered species.
Peter Alzer of the Mid North Coast is a lifelong advocate for the forests of NSW. He is among the protesters and is continuing his fourth day of a 12-day hunger strike outside parliament.
