A proposed inquiry into the treatment of Indigenous detainees in ACT’s adult prison aims to address overrepresentation of Indigenous people in incarceration and offer hope for First Nations justice.

Earlier this month, loved ones of Indigenous men who lost their lives in Canberra’s jail welcomed a motion for a board of inquiry into First Nations deaths in custody.

It follows a several recent deaths in AMC’s prison including two within four days earlier this year.
