Arnhem Land Electoral Complaint

Last week, two indigenous men from Arnhem Land lodged a complaint against the Australian Electoral Commission. An alleged act of indirect discrimination: Matthew Ross and Ross Mandi highlight how requiring voters to have a street address and a postal address, as well as the lack of time that some polling booths are available for discriminates against Indigenous Australians living in remote areas.

With Indigenous Australians having the lowest electoral enrolment rate than any other group, the lack of indigenous voices in Australian politics is heightened.
