This week the first results of the Australian Census were released, giving a picture of how Australia looks like.

The census revealed we are more multicultural than the United States or Canada.

Around 51 per cent of Australians have one or both parents born overseas, and 27 per cent were born outside Australia.

But how can this information help to policy makers about future plans for Australia?
