Australia’s Vaccine Confidence; Can We Get It Back?

Despite international and local concern over the COVID jab, Australia will not be pausing the AstraZeneca vaccine rollout as experts say there is little cause for uncertainty.

Although several European countries have suspended their use of the Oxford vaccine due to an occurrence of blood clots in recipients, which has created a loss of confidence in the Australian public, Australian experts ensure that these results are not a threat to the national AstraZeneca rollout and shouldn’t deter people from receiving their shot.

Paul Griffin, the director of Infectious Disease at Mater Health Services, Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Queensland, and Medical Director and Principal Investigator at Q-Pharm, Nucleus Network, spoke to The Wire about the safety of the vaccine and how to win back Australia’s confidence.
