Research reveals that bans on commercial surrogacy in Thailand hasn’t stopped the practice, but instead left surrogates unsupported and exploited.

Commercial surrogacy is prohibited in various countries including Thailand.

As a result of the ban, surrogates often cross borders to participate in surrogacy programs, sometimes with only agency support.

Despite the positive experiences some surrogates report the banning has led to feelings of isolation within the community, and experts suggest that regulatory frameworks are needed to protect surrogate rights and prevent exploitation.
