Carbon offsets are now common practice for large carbon emitting companies. Carbon offsets like carbon capture and environmental regeneration are necessary to alleviate the damage that is being done to the environment by large emitters so they can achieve net-zero while still implementing emission reduction policies.
Avoiding or reducing carbon pollution are the preferred methods of protecting the environment but in industries like commercial aviation or manufacturing do not have the technology to achieve net-zero without carbon offsets.
