The disability community have been left confused and concerned as no figures have been mentioned for Foundational Supports in any Australian state budgets.

Calls for Foundational Supports have been long-term, with the new tier proposing to offer a range of supports between mainstream services and more specialised disability services through NDIS, particularly for those ineligible for the Scheme.

Federal Minister for Health Disability and the NDIS Mark Butler, said in a press conference, “it’s not surprising not to see it in budget papers – but we regard it still as a clear commitment all governments have made.”

Roll out was slated for July but has since been delayed until the end of the year – leaving many still questioning what recent state budget omissions could mean for the project.
