A panel organised by Infrastructure Victoria found that the majority of Victorians support a ban on petrol car sales, to promote the purchasing of electric vehicles.

With vehicle emissions playing a large role in Australia’s carbon emissions, the rise of electric vehicles within the next ten years could keep the countries goal of reaching net zero carbon emissions on track.

The panel highlighted the need for incentives, accessibility of charging stations and further community education to address the myths surrounding electric cars, to help see a rise in purchases.

Infrastructure Victoria have come up with a 30-year strategy report to present to parliament along with the suggestions and findings of the panel.
