Evidence is continuing to emerge that smoking puts people at greater risk of illness if they contract COVID-19.
Smokers are more vulnerable to respiratory illness, and other complications.
Early research is showing that compared to non-smokers, smokers are more likely to be admitted to intensive care, require ventilation and suffer longer term complications if they are COVID-positive.
