Australia imports 65% of our seafood in order to keep up with demand. Amongst the global seafood market about 20% comes from illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing. These kinds of figures mean, the seafood you could be consuming is putting environments, ecosystems and labourers at risk.

The Australian Government have recently handed down policy proposals to combat the issue on our shores which requires traceability and accountability. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fix everything. It’s up to consumers to get the ball rolling and make a point to ask where your fish is being sourced from!
