The United Nations humanitarian chief has said Ethiopia’s Tigray province is on the verge of famine after intense conflict has decimated the region. Hundreds of thousands civilians are at risk of starvation as militia blockages have cut off access for humanitarian groups to the area. Thousands of deaths and atrocities have resulted from the fighting since it began when government forces attempted to oust Tigray People’s Liberation’s front seven months ago, after the group attacked key federal military bases.
