New data reveals a worrying trend that may undermine the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

State and federal governments have started giving Australians the jab, but in a survey commissioned by the ABC, 10% of participants said they were ‘very unlikely’ to get the vaccine.

If the aim is herd immunity, that number poses problems for health authorities.

But herd immunity is a long way off: right now the government is trying to protect those most at risk: the elderly, people with autoimmune diseases, and frontline workers.

In the long term though, vaccine hesitancy may be problematic.
