In their latest research, scientific experts from The ANU and Deakin University warn that baby formula companies are manipulating parents’ concerns for their child’s health and development through exploitative advertising tactics.
It is argued that the current self-regulated and voluntarily code for manufacturers of infant formula products is not strong enough to weaken their marketing initiatives. While breastfeeding is highly recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO), only a third of Australian parents chooses to follow this guideline.
