With the bushfire season soon upon us developments in technology are enabling fire-fighters to better adapt to the highly dangerous situations that put them in harms way. This has led to the immersive cinematic environment being used to train fire-fighters and rescuers how to orient themselves and develop rapid decision-making skills to deal with the highly-complex environment during a major fire event.
Stephen Hill spoke to Dennis Del Favero, Creative Fellow and executive director of iCinema at the University of NSW about how interactive images can assist fire-fighters to navigate the many hazards involved in combatting major conflagrations.
