Companies such as Uber, DoorDash and Menulog are some of the biggest users of gig economy workers.
Often working long hours, these companies have tended to hire them as independent contractors, to avoid the rights and obligations that are required from an employer to their employee. Yet with the Albanese Government already making many industrial reforms, there is growing interest on whether Labor will make these workers employees, or if they will instead regulate them as contractors.
