A new code signed by Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Twitter, RedBubble and TikTok aims to fight online disinformation.

It comes after Facebook took the unprecedented step last week of removing all news content from its platform.

A set of opt-in guidelines make up the new code, which the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) will oversee.

It could mean big changes for how users interact with the platforms.
