Australia’s annual sexual health check-up has been released, showing HIV cases are declining, but other STIs such as syphilis and gonorrhoea have doubled over the last TEN years.
Although chlamydia cases are relatively stable, it remains the most commonly diagnosed STI in Australia.
The data also shows rates of STIs are higher in First Nation communities and in regional areas.
