As extreme heatwaves persist across large parts of Australia, health experts are warning about the effects of prolonged exposure to heat. Ahead of this week’s high temperatures, the NSW ambulance service expects a 10% rise in the number of triple-zero calls. 

But what about the less obvious, or direct impacts of heat waves and other extreme weather events?

New research from Macquarie University has found a link between hot weather and increased rates of domestic violence.
