The internet sites of many businesses, including media and government organisations, utilise content networking services to relay information across the world.

The technology aims to make browsing quicker for people in different countries, with copies of website information based on local servers.

But, as experienced on the evening of Tuesday 8 June 2021, when those networks fail the internet shuts down, barring access to the sites.
