Following two previous job cuts this year, the first in January, then in May, Spotify have announced their third workforce slash.
Daniel Ek, CEO of Spotify favours the term “right sizing”, laying off 1500 workers, which makes up 17% of the total workforce.
Amid rising costs to platform subscription, these continuous lay offs come as a surprise, especially when considering their influence in the music streaming industry.
So what does this mean for us? Will there be any trickle down effects to the artists that use the platform as their means of income?
