WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is finally free to return home to Australia, ending a 14-year legal journey.
52 year-old Assange has agreed to plead guilty to a single criminal count of conspiring to obtain and disclose classified US national defence documents.
Assange is due to be sentenced to 62 months of time already served at a hearing on the Mariana Islands, a US Territory.
Northern Rivers New South Wales for Assange has been campaigning for the Wikileaks Founder, who before being incarcerated sought asylum in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.
The Wire’s contributor from BayFM Mia Armitage asked Representative Roy Drew his thoughts about today’s event.
