Koori Mail Celebrates 30th Anniversary

The Koori Mail, Australia’s only Indigenous owned and self-funded newspaper, celebrates its 30 years of reporting.

The fortnightly paper based on Bundajalung Country in Lismore NSW,  covers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs through a black lens. While it has a circulation of 10,000, it is estimated to be read by almost 100,000 people.

Rudi Maxwell, editor to the Koori Mail, spoke to The Wire on the importance of 100 percent Aboriginal owned and self-funded newspapers in the current media landscape.
