A professional body for general practitioners is asking the Federal government to lower the Medicare Safety Net thresholds so more Australians can get access to medical care.

The Medicare Safety Net thresholds allow Australians to lower the out-of-pocket expenses while visiting a GP or a hospital, and lowering these nets, more disadvantaged Australians can have access to health care.

The Wire’s Zachary Probert asked Vice President and Rural Chair for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Associate Professor Michael Clemens, to explain more about the Medicare Safety Net.
