During peace times Russia keeps 1500-1700 troops in the Moldovan region of Transnistria. There have been reports that Russia is bolstering this number to be able to overwhelm Moldova’s modest military of 3250 soldiers.
There are rumbling of Russia attempting to make Moldova a new front in the Ukrainian War.
The plan to take over Moldova to provide relief to the Ukrainian front is sound but, the Russian’s have proven that they are not the most capable fighting force. On the off chance Russia are able to secure Moldova the Ukrainian’s moral, supplies and training would continue to see them defend against their attackers.
