For menstruators, biologically they experience their period once a month, and on average lasts for under a week. According to Clean up Australia, there are 6 million menstruators in Australia and 16-22 sanitary items are used per period.
90% of conventional pads contain plastic which in landfill would take 300-500 years to decompose.
