The independence of a 2019 independent review of the National Disability Insurance Scheme was cast in doubt earlier this week as secret documents reveal that the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) tampered with the documents.
Documents obtained through freedom of information showed that the NDIA added numerous changes, most notably adding the chapter proposing the use of independent assessments – a new type of assessment that has been unanimously condemned by disability advocates as being cost-cutting measures that take away disabled peoples’ rights to choice and control in their own lives.
