In May 1996, Brewster Kahle founded and launched the Internet Archive. It started off as something to preserve pages on the world wide web before emerging as archiving beyond the web such as including moving images, texts and even books opening up a massive digital library. Nowadays, It’s home to about 866 billion web pages, 44 million books and over 10 million videos/films.

But now news publishers such as The Guardian, The New York Times, the Financial Times and USA Today all confirmed they are ending their connection with the platform.

So why are they doing that?
