The pandemic has again highlighted problems associated with licensing academic research and publications for open access.

A whole generation of students have been unable to access much material due to online restrictions harking back to a bygone publishing era.

Sales of academic research papers and books are not the money spinners that fiction writers like JK Rowling garner and Big Publishers are still holding out against Plan S, the plan to allow open academic research as if they can’t tell the difference.
